My boss brought it up. I said the same thing. It means:

The word Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis is defined as "a disease caused by the inhalation of very fine silica dust, mostly found in volcanos". It was originally postulated by Everett M. Smith, simply to serve as the longest English word, but has been used in several sources as an approximation of its originally intended definition. The plural of this word, pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconioses is equally long.

But only silica dust from volcanoes?
Something similar must happen when I get respiratory infections from breathing concrete dust.

BTW you couldn't play it in Scrabble even if you had the whole letter bag. Too many O's (never thought I'd say that!). There's only 8.

According to Wikipedia it was originally intended as a hoax, by the president of the National Puzzlers League.

Sounds like something I'd like to join.

Wonder who I would submit my word to that I came up with?

Contramoiramutavention

Contra = against
Moira = a god of predetermined destiny
muta = short for mutate
vention = short for intervention

Definition: The act of changing the future against the course of destiny, usually by unnatural or paranormal means

Only 22 letters.
